Aberdeen Add Celtic Starlet and Wycombe Stalwart to the Squad

Aberdeen have confirmed a further 2 signings, with the 'Dons' summer rebuild in full swing now, following a turbulent season of change. Jim Goodwin has now made 5 signings already this season

In the last few days alone Aberdeen have snapped up Liam Scales from Celtic, and Anthony Stewart from Wycombe Wanderers.

Young Celtic prospect Liam Scales joined on a season-long loan on Tuesday, with the 23-Year-Old versatile Defender, who can play either Left Back or Centre Back, is set to spend the next season gaining valuable Premiership experience at Pittodrie.

Scales, a 6-time Ireland Under-21 international and PFAI TOTY Inclusion, has only managed 13 appearances for Celtic since joining in 2021, with 5 of those coming in the Premiership last season as his side would win the league title.

This struggle for game time in a competitive Celtic side is why he has joined Aberdeen on loan, and fellow Irishman Jim Goodwin has completed a really clever piece of business. With the departure of Considine, who has now joined St. Johnstone, the 'Dons' were short at the back and this addition will help that. If he can get a run of games he will be desperate to prove himself in Scotland and could turn out to be a key player for Aberdeen.

Aberdeen didn't stop there, however, and have signed Wycombe Wanderers' defender Anthony Stewart on a free transfer. The 29-Year-Old had been on the books at Wycombe, bar a brief stint with Crewe Alexandra, since 2011 - coming through the youth ranks.

Stewart is an experienced Centre Half who has been a first-team regular at Wycombe for a few years now - making 292 appearances for the club. He was a key player the year that they were promoted to the Championship, then retaining his place for their solitary season in the second tier.

This is quite the coup for Aberdeen, and Stewart could go on to become a key player for Jim Goodwin. The Englishman is highly rated down south and this will be his first taste of Scottish football, with his play style and skillset he should fit in really well.

Overall, these are two shrewd additions by Aberdeen, as they look to return to where they arguably belong, at the top end of the table fighting for European football. They now need to put last season behind them and Goodwin will be desperate to refresh the squad and put his stamp on the club.
