Celtic Edging Closer to MASSIVE Summer Signing

After a startling first season in Green and White, Celtic are set to secure the permanent signing of Portuguese starlet Jota, after the 23-year-old finally agreed to terms with the club and landed on a 4-year contract.

A £6.5m buy-out clause was inserted in the initial loan deal last season which Celtic have exercised. The only sticking point in the deal was the personal terms, but now that they have been agreed the signing of Jota from Benfica is imminent.

The former Portuguese under-21 international was a hit in his first season under Ange Postecoglu, scoring 13 goals and assisting a further 14 as Celtic won the Premier Sports Cup, and the cinch Premiership title - snatching the trophy back from rivals Rangers.

Jota has played 34 games for his parent club, with 2 of those coming in the Champions League - this European experience will come in handy for Celtic, who have qualified for the group stage of the competition. Despite his side's relative struggles in European last season, Jota managed an impressive 2 goals and 2 assists in 5 games in the Europa League.

Left Winger Jota was a key player for Celtic last season and will be a big asset for the club in the coming season with 'The Bhoys' fighting on all fronts this upcoming campaign. If he can repeat his performances from last season, you would imagine that £6.5m is an absolute bargain.

Celtic are hoping to have the deal concluded in time for their pre-season training camp in Austria.
