Aston Villa are close to confirming the signing of Rangers Youth Player Rory Wilson. The 16 year old has already announced that he will be leaving the club this summer.

The Rangers starlet had a barnstorming campaign last season, scoring an incredible 49 goals at youth level and attracting interest from a whole host of top clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City.
Aston Villa have won the race for his signature, with Steven Gerrard returning to raid his old club. Rangers will be due £300,000 in compensation from Aston Villa for the signing of Wilson, who has scored 8 goals in 11 caps for Scotland at under-17 level.
Wilson has a bright future ahead of him and will join up with the Aston Villa youth academy on the 1st of July. Aston Villa are a club with a heavy emphasis on nurturing young talents, and under Gerrard, have turned to the Scottish market multiple times, including Dundee United's Kerr Smith, with the rumoured addition of Ewan Simpson from 'Hearts' also imminent.
Popular Journalist Fabrizio Ramano broke the news on Twitter, claiming that Gerrard was a key factor in Wilson's decision to join Villa.
There is certainly a lot of hype around this deal, whilst it is never nice to see a talented young Scottish prospect head down south for a pittance, Wilson has bags of potential and will be a player to keep a close eye on in the future, at just 16 you would imagine he will have to wait for his first-team chance, but with the way his career is going so far you wouldn't bet against him making the grade for the 'Villains'.
